Mr. Harris has experience as a former Assistant Attorney General for the State of New Mexico and a former Assistant City Attorney for the City of Albuquerque. He clerked for the chief judge of one of the busiest federal bankruptcy courts in the country. He was the founder and first president of the States’ Association of Bankruptcy Attorneys, which enabled state governments to effectively collaborate on federal bankruptcy matters. He is the past-Chairman of the Bankruptcy Law Section of the New Mexico State Bars and is a member of the bankruptcy law section. Currently Mr. Harris is a City Councilor for the City of Albuquerque. He represents approximately 60,000 people in his City Council District. He has served on the Council since first being elected in 2005. He has served as the Council President, Council Vice President, Budget Committee Chairman and Finance Committee Chairman. Don Harris has also been selected by the New Mexico State Bar to sit on judicial selection panels.
